Curriculum vitae

Anne Tryba joined the TUM School of Management in February 2023 as a Professor of Entrepreneurial Education. Prior to her employment at TUM, she was a Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Munich Business School where she also served as the Academic Director of the Master in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Vice Dean of Learning and Teaching, and a member of the Senate. She completed her doctoral studies in Entrepreneurship at the University of Luxembourg and joined TUM’s Entrepreneurship Research Institute as a Postdoctoral Researcher. Previously, Anne worked as a Strategy Consultant at Capgemini Invent in Europe and China, as a Senior Manager in Telefónica Germany’s Corporate Marketing and Strategy departments, and she co-founded a startup in the premium fashion industry.

 

In her research, Anne studies how individual and team cognition, competencies, motivations, and decisions in entrepreneurial and innovation contexts shape organization design, behavior, and outcomes. Her recent interests mainly revolve around exploring how decision-makers, entrepreneurial education design, and organizational factors influence sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation practices and outcomes. Her research has been published in leading entrepreneurship and management journals. Anne is experienced in developing, introducing, and teaching lectures and seminars on the undergraduate and graduate level on a variety of entrepreneurship and innovation topics such as entrepreneurial mindset, strategy & business design, ideation & prototyping, scaling startups, sustainable entrepreneurship & innovation, innovation strategy, and international entrepreneurship. Her teaching is highly interactive and combines action-oriented and experiential learning with theory from latest research findings and practical examples. Anne collaborates closely with the players of the entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem. She is experienced in guiding startups and corporates, facilitating startup events, and creating joint entrepreneurial education offerings.

Selected current research projects / Research areas

“Coping with failure contexts” - In cooperation with the Université Libre de Bruxelles, we investigate how and when a high degree of failed projects in an organization influences the work engagement of innovation project team members.

 

“Toward a consumer-oriented innovation front end” - We explore why and how behavioral factors influence the integration of consumer insights in the front end of innovation of technology firms.

 

Behind the scenes of sustainable ventures” - We analyze how founders of new ventures with a sustainability mission and business model select and apply sustainability-oriented practices for managing their internal processes and teams.
