Additionally, the preliminary evaluation establishes and “translates” the foreign grades to the German grading system. To apply for the preliminary evaluation, please submit your documents to uni-assist within the relevant application period. Verification of your documents with uni-assist does not qualify as an application for TUM. You will need to apply to TUM via TUMonline before the application deadline. Please find application guidelines for international students here.

No, unfortunately we only accept a GMAT.

Yes. If you want to apply for more than one program, please send us a separate application for each program you are applying for. This includes documents, including certified copies. Each application will be processed separately. It is also possible to apply for the program with the same name in Heilbronn and Munich.  In this case, you need to complete an application for each degree program and upload all the necessary documents during the application deadline.

Generally speaking, your application process is the same as for national applicants. There are a few exceptions that may or may not apply to you.

No. You need to have completed at least 140 ECTS by the time you apply as evident in your Transcript of records. You can hand in your Bachelor’s degree certificate up until 5 weeks after the start of lectures. Please note that a failure to do so will result in a forced de-registration (‘Zwangsexmatrikulation’), regardless of the reason!

All applicants with a Bachelor’s degree from China, Bangladesh, India, Egypt or Pakistan must submit a GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) with at least 65% percentile ranking with their application. For all other Master applicants, the GMAT remains optional, although additional points will be awarded for certain percentil rankings at the first stage of the assessment procedure.

ECTS stands for European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System. You can find a brief explanation here.

The University Application Service for International Students Uni-assist e.V. processes international student applications as an external partner for the Technical University of Munich. Uni-assist performs preliminary processing and evaluation of the applicant's university entrance qualification (bachelor's) or master qualification materials (for master's), running a check of the applicants’ certificates to determine which grades they have on the German grading system. This preliminary documentation (VPD) informs applicants whether they qualify to study all subjects (general qualification), only certain subjects (subject-restricted qualification) or postgradual studies (master's).

Typically, it takes us about 8 - 12 weeks to process an application completely, from the time all documents have been uploaded and checked by TUM. You can check the status of your application on your TUMonline account.

The Dean's List comprises the finest performers from every academic program, aiming to facilitate the school in identifying and motivating exceptional students in their early stages of education. This initiative helps nurture the most promising students for their future endeavors in research and industry.

The Dean's List is updated once a year, the evaluation takes place after the closing dates for grades of the summer semester in late November/early December.

1. The Dean’s List consists of the top 5% of students from each program across all campuses, based on the most recent summer semester. The top performers from all programs are combined into an overall List for the school. The List is updated annually.

Students on the List are personally invited by email from the Dean Prof. Gunther Friedl.

Yes, if you were invited to be on the Dean's List, you can pick up your certificate in the Student Hub in Munich or at your program manager in Heilbronn or Straubing during regular office hours until 30 March. Each new Dean's List cohort will receive a new certificate for the period of time they are on the List.

Yes. The utilized system EvaSys provided by Electic Paper does not allow to trace any information back to individual students.

TUM SOM students can review teaching evaluation results. A previous arranged appointment and a valid student identity card are mandatory. For making an appointment please contact with a short e-mail to: lehrevaluation@wi.tum.de.

Each semester students are asked to evaluate the courses they visited. The survey is anonymous and is executed through a standardized questionnaire, which varies depending on the format of the course (lecture, tutorial, seminar, internship and excursion). The questionnaires are available in English or German. On a 5-point Likert scale students give feedback about the extent of agreement and disagreement to different areas (e.g. conception and structure, knowledge impartment, learning environment, appropriate degree of difficulty and acquisition of competency). Open text fields allow for further ideas of improvement and comments. For each course and question the following measures will be calculated: Relative frequency of each answer category Mean value Standard deviation Median Completing a questionnaire requires approximately 10-15 minutes. Paper-based surveys will be conducted by an ad-hoc named student and will be handed to the office of the quality management. A PDF-report comprising the results of the survey will be generated for each course. As soon as results are available the report including the comments will be sent to the respective lecturers. We ask the lecturers to use the opportunity to discuss survey outcomes with students during the course. Lecturers with outstanding results will be suggested by the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs for the “Best Teaching Award”, which is awarded every year during the “Tag der Fakultät”.
