The Centre for Higher Education (CHE) ranks German-speaking universities on a one to five-star scale in various categories as an orientation to prospective students, based on the input of current students.

 

Across the board, TUM received at least four stars in management studies. In particular, the programs at the TUM Campus Heilbronn were given top ratings by students. The top ratings for the facilities, including IT equipment, rooms, and library, are worthy of mention here.

Digital Leaders in Higher Education ranking

In the 2023 edition of the Digital Leaders in Higher Education ranking, TUM is placed among the best universities worldwide, ranked eleventh in the overall ranking.

 

Especially in the category "Digital companies' management studies", TUM ranks first worldwide. This category rates how many managers of digital companies have studied a business, management, and/or finance degree at the respective university.

 

Likewise in the category "Best Digital Entrepreneurship Programs", TUM is ranked third worldwide. Here, the degrees held by founders were identified. Furthermore, the digital experts were asked about the best entrepreneurship programs.

Admission requirements

The minimum requirements for an application to the Master in Management & Digital Technology are:

 

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent (at least 140 ECTS at the time of application) in Management & Technology, Management, Economics, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable program.
  • Successfully completion of various modules (see details here).  
  • Proof of English language proficiency
  • All Applicants for a Master’s degree who did not obtain their qualification for postgraduate studies (usually a Bachelor’s degree) at a German university must apply for a VPD (preliminary review documentation) through uni-assist
  • Additionally, a GMAT (classic/focus) with at least 65% percentile ranking if you obtained your bachelor's degree in the following countries: China, India, Pakistan, Egypt, and BangladeshFor more information please click here
  • All applicants, who wish to apply for a degree program at a German university with a Chinese, Indian, or Vietnamese school or university degree need a certificate from the Academic Evaluation Center (Akademische Prüfstelle, APS).

 

 

Please note: It is not necessary to prove any knowledge of the German language at the time of application. However, as a foreign student, you are required to provide proof of basic German language proficiency (comparable to A1 level) by the end of the second semester.

Specializations

Optional specialization in management:

  • Family Enterprise: Digitalization poses particular challenges for family firms. Selecting this specialization offers the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge in the area of family-owned and/or family-run businesses. Students acquire interdisciplinary knowledge through modules that incorporate diverse perspectives (e.g., psychological, sociological, economic, and legal) to examine family enterprise behavior.

  • Digital Enterprises: In the area of Digital Enterprises, students acquire management skills in order to be able to introduce digital technologies to the company on a larger scale. This specialization also focuses on new business models and business processes.

Specialization in technology:

  • Digital Technology: As a result of growing digitization, the quantity of data available and its potential value to companies continue to increase. The specialization in Digital Technology is focused on how to use data and adequate analysis methods to design and implement digital business models and processes. Equipped with these data-centric and analytical skills, students can capture value and facilitate the implementation of new technologies.
